Proud Warrior: |
| |
The Proud Warrior Fund is overseen and administered by the Eagle Chapter of the Air Force Security Forces Association and with the approval of the National Air Force Security Forces Association. The fund is an IRS approved non-profit 501c(19) and all donations directly support our injured security forces airman. Proud Warrior acknowledges the sacrifice and courage displayed by Security Forces men and women who have been injured and who have been medically evacuated to the United States from a war zone due to significant combat-related injuries. It is our way, in combination with the efforts of the Department of Defense, of showing support to these brave airmen for their patriotism, sacrifice and contributions towards the continuing war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The injuries to our Airmen are often severe and caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). In many cases the IEDs cause a brain trauma that requires extensive rehabilitation, or crush a limb that then requires amputation. These brave Airmen are medically evacuated to and treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. |

| Our
First Proud Warrior. Senior Airman Anthony (Tony) Pizzifred
entered our program as a result of his encounter with a land
mine in Afghanistan. Tony lost the lower part of his left
leg below the knee. Tony and Brian became great friends.
Tony is an active member of the US Air Force. He returned
to the DC area to run in the Army's 10-Miler. |
